Welcome to our Reception class page. Here you will find information about our routines and a few snapshots of the wonderful things we do in Reception. We have two Reception classes in our school. Miss Waters and Mrs Ryder teach in Reception.
Our Classroom
Reading in Reception
We will bring a reading book home to read and share with the adults in our house. We should bring our reading books into school every day and they will be changed once a week. We can also read any books that we have at home or visit the local library to borrow some books!
Homework in Reception
We get either a maths homework or a talking homework every week. This is linked to the topic we are learning about in Reception. We also get a Phonics homework based on what we are learning in school. We would love it if our Mums and Dads could help us and talk to us about our learning and help us with our new phonics.
Snack in Reception
We have a variety of fruit to try each day in class. There is no charge for this. We also get to try different foods when we celebrate festivals and events throughout the year. Children may also bring in a small healthy snack each day e.g. a piece of fruit or cereal bar. No chocolate or crisps please. Children should have a water bottle in class with them each day.
Learning outdoors in Reception
We spend lots of time learning outdoors in Reception, whatever the weather! Please provide wellies for us to wear and leave in school. Our teacher will give us waterproof coats and trousers to wear, but be warned we may come home dirty, especially during the winter!
