Computing

At Huyton with Roby CE Primary School, our computing curriculum is designed to ensure that all pupils have equal access to learning about technology and developing a positive interest in it. We aim to support children in using technology safely, confidently and effectively, while also encouraging responsible and respectful digital behaviour.

Our curriculum is built around three key strands: computer science, information technology, and digital literacy. This approach supports pupils in becoming confident and creative users of technology, placing an emphasis on active engagement rather than passive use. Knowledge and skills are taught progressively through a clear and structured sequence, allowing understanding to deepen each year, with consistent use of appropriate technical vocabulary to support communication.  The Knowsley CLC scheme underpins our delivery of the computing curriculum and provides a clear framework for teaching and learning.

In addition to timetabled lessons, we provide a range of enrichment opportunities throughout the year, including a Coding Club for Key Stage 2 pupils.
